Drag Idol Applications are now closed
Thank you for your interest in Drag Idol 2022. It’s a great chance for current or new drag acts to expand on their skills and gain experience. All contestants find they progress and build a great fan base nationally very quickly which can help in gaining work and raising your profile.
Cris Howe is running the competition. He will be your point of contact and message you through Facebook.
There are only a limited number of places for Week 1. So you will be asked to fill in an application. Once you have applied you will be asked to send in a short video. Details will be given after applying.
Drag Idol takes place in SWITCH at 9.30 pm on Sundays for 6 weeks from 13th February 2022 with the final in Boulevard on Sunday 20th March 2022. Some of the prizes include £300 cash and to perform, the main stage at Northern pride. The prizes may change due to our sponsors.
Drag Queens /Drag Kings / Faux Queens/other performers may enter. You can enter as an individual or as a group. All entrants must be over 18 at the start of the competition. You must be able to attend all 6 weeks if you get through the weeks.
In the first week, you will perform your own chosen number.
Songs are to be strictly, no more than 3 minutes long and must be emailed no less than 24 hours before your performance each week.
If you need help editing your track down, Cris Howe will give you help.
All song choices must be run by Cris Howe first to ensure that there are no numbers duplicated between artists. This will be confidential.
Each week contestants will perform a song based on a theme chosen the week prior.
SWITCH BAR ON THE NIGHT IS OPEN FROM 8 PM, THE CONTESTANTS HAVE THE LOFT (Upstairs in switch) TO CHANGE AND LEAVE THEIR BELONGINGS, BUT WE ASK IF POSSIBLE, TO COME WITH MAKEUP DONE AND CHANGED. ( Loft is locked during the competition.)
At 9 pm we have a photo session in the Loft.
